New Batwoman Javicia Leslie shares first image of her wearing the suit

So, as we all know Batwoman star Ruby Rose stepped away from the role of Kate Kane/Batwoman after just one season in the leather and cape on The CW’s show.

While there was some kerfuffle over her leaving, we know that a new star, Javicia Leslie, will be stepping into the leather and the Batcave this season as new character Ryan Wilder, a likable, messy, little goofy and untamed character who is ‘nothing like Kate Kane’.

We learned during DC Fandome, while the show is set to film very soon, Leslie had yet to put the suit on.

Although it seems that now that’s all changed.

We have learned that season 2’s plot will revolve around the mystery of where Kane went and of how the world will react to a new Batwoman.

Showrunner Caroline Dries said previously: “To be honest with you, I did consider the soap opera version for a hot minute, selfishly, because we had a couple episodes already written, and transition-wise, it would be seamless [since] we already started breaking season 2.

“But upon further reflection, and [Arrowverse producer] Greg [Berlanti] helped me make this call and he’s way smarter than me about this sort of stuff, he’s like, ‘You know, I think we should just reboot the character in terms of reboot Batwoman as a different character.’ Just to also respect everything that Ruby [Rose] put into the Kate Kane character.”

Anyway, check out the first image of Leslie in the suit and let me know your thoughts – personally, I think she’s a beautiful looking woman but this suit isn’t doing her any favours at all… let’s hope in action it looks better.

Along with revealing the suit, the star wrote: “Look out, Gotham, I’m suited up and ready to go… But just wait until Ryan Wilder puts her own spin on the Batsuit.”

Batwoman is scheduled to return with new episodes in January of 2021.
