So, with Peter Capaldi now officially stepping down from Doctor Who – he finishes with this year’s Chrsitmas Special – all the fans are wondering who will step up next.
And, as happened last time, everyone is wondering if we’ll finally get a female regeneration of The Doctor – we’ve had a female Master with Missy, so it’s certainly not out of the question.
When Caoaldi goes so too will current showrunner Steven Moffat and he’ll be replaced by Chris Chibnall, who is already being asked if he’ll have a Time Lady controlling the TARDIS: “I can honestly say that nothing has yet been decided,” Chibnall told the East Anglian Daily Times.
“I haven’t got my feet under the table yet. I have been working on the play (new comedy Worst Wedding Ever) and I am still finishing the latest series of Broadchurch.
“Nothing is ruled out but I don’t want the casting to be a gimmick and that’s all I can say.”
So there you have it – it’s certainly not off the table. But will it be his choice or Moffatt’s?
What do you all think? Would you like to see a Time Lady in the big blue box this time out? Let us know…
Doctor Who returns to BBC1 on Saturday 15th April
