We’re big fans of the show Banshee here at FTN and a recent episode had an utterly fantastic fight scene (S03E03). Continuous and fantastically choreographed violence that have permanent effects on the political landscape of Banshee are the main reason I, personally, watch the show, I also only buy those magazines for the articles Ma, I swear 🙂
Naturally, when we got talking about it later the discussion turned to our favourite fights in the series (there’s A LOT of fighting in the show) and thus was a top ten fights article born.
We are generally agreed about which fights belong in the top ten, however there’s some debate about the order of that top ten. Let us know if you feel we missed or what order you’d place them in.
We are including a fight from Season three so in case the warning wasn’t clear there’s SPOILERS! for every season here! Also we are excluding the gunfights as Justified beats Banshee hands down when it comes to shooting.
WE MUST SAY THESE FIGHTS ARE VERY GRAPHIC, VIOLENT AND PEOPLE DIE. ALOT.- YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
1: Welcome to Banshee
This fight is here for a number of reasons, firstly, without this fight there’s no plot for the rest of the show, secondly, it’s the only one to feature Hood actual, thridly, the ketchup bottle move, I genuinely talked about that for weeks afterwards and it was what brought me back to watch it again.
2: Burton vs Nola
So two of our favourite psychotic hench-people have it out in an epic battle in season three. A superb fight scene including flashbacks to the things that turned them into the monsters they are.
3. Hood vs Sanchez: Meet the new Boss
So our man Hood is expected to look the other way by the powers that be when a visiting MMA star rapes a young girl. Hood decides it would be better to make sure everyone understands who is actually in charge by making an example of the MMA fighter.
4.Daddy’s Little Girl – Â Ana Vs Olek
When Rabbit sends his best man to bring his daughter back by any means necessary things turn rough pretty quickly. He probably shouldn’t have called her punches cute…
5: Race Relations
Like any town in America, Banshee has its race problems, when a bunch of supremists kill Deputy Emmett’s unborn child in a viscous assault on his wife and wind up in his cells, well, let’s just say Hood is clearly a bad influence on the lad
6: Boss Fight
So what happens when the two opposing bosses have it out? An unsatisfactory conclusion to this one but without Proctor who would keep Hood in check? Yeah, you read that right.
7: Banshee PD vs Chaystone
There’s some tensions between the communities after an Indian girl dies off the reservation and when Hood and co show up, well outside their jurisdiction I might add, to ask the single biggest Indian in Banshee about it, he doesn’t take it too kindly. I’m genuinely surprised the house didn’t cave in, it looks kind of flimsy.
8.Sunday school
The ladies of Banshee are no slouches when it comes to getting into a scrap and this scene from season two shows two of them dealing with bad situations, an abusive partner and a prison bully in true banshee style!
9: Table for two
Alex Longshadow, head of the local Indian council has a sit down with Proctor to discuss recent events, short but fun.
10.Hood vs Quentin
A really short fight but the ending is a classic.
