NYCC 2026 – WATCH: Futurama ‘post-credits scene’ teases what comes next

October 10th, 2026 by Marc Comments

While it was announced as returning at SDCC just a few months ago, it seems that the all-new Futuruama has been cancelled but never fear; if there’s any group that knows about ‘more to come’, it’s these guys.

Now, at NYCC, we got the release of an all-new ‘post-credit’ scene which hints at what’s still to come because, while it may be cancelled, it won’t be until three feature-length specials air next year  (something about this all seems so familiar).

“They can put us in a coffin. They can nail the lid shut, but they can’t bury us. We will rise again,” creator Matt Groening said of the show’s return and quick cancellation, adding: “I guess I’m not too worried.”

SDCC 2026 WATCH: Trailer for Futurama season 14 is here, plus details on season 15 and a Disenchantment crossover!

This isn’t the show’s first dabble with death, and it’s been resurrected more times than your average Marvel character, originally running from 1999 until 2003 on FOX, then returning between 2008 and 2013 on Comedy Central, and then Hulu brought it back again in 2023.

Groening said: “I think we have a whistling-past-the-graveyard attitude these days because we’ve been in this situation many times before. We have lots more stories to tell. The animators and the actors and the writers all would love to do more stories and we’ll see. You never know.”

So, while we sit back and wait for these XXXL-sized episodes next year, why not watch the ‘post-credits scene’ below and get a sneak look at the show’s future?

Wonder what happens next? This brand-new “post-credits scene” for Futurama Season 14 reveals (almost) all.

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
