Pedro Pascal star of the live action Star Wars series? And will Dave Filoni be directing? Here’s hoping…

October 3rd, 2018 by Marc Comments

Finally we have some pretty exciting news on the Star War live-action series from Jon Favreau which is reported to focus on the Mandalorians, which Favreau already has a personal connection with (here).

With filming expected to kick off this weekend, we have been hearing reports that Game of Thrones and Wonder Woman 1984 star Pedro Pascal may be the star of the series.

The series will be an exclusive to the Disney streaming service and won’t arrive until 2019.

Pascal’s potential starring in the series is exciting news as he is a superb actor and can deliver on the physical and the charismatic front… we could almost see him as a Han Solo type character already but we could also see him as a Madalorian too, so it’ll be exciting to see what he plays in the series IF he really is involved.

We hope he is.

Oh, here’s some set images from the guys at Making Star Wars:

So, anyway, here’s the good (rumoured) news:

  • Dave Filoni (creator of Star Wars Resistance, executive producer of Star Wars Rebels, and supervising director of Star Wars: The Clone Wars) will reportedly direct two episodes of the first season.
  • Rogue One director of photography Greig Fraser is involved in some capacity.
The show is operating under the codename “Project Huckleberry”.
  • Werner Herzog said last month he was working on “a big franchise film, about which I’m not supposed to say anything”, which has the codename “Huckleberry”. Read into that what you will.
  • The first season will be eight episodes, not ten as initially reported. This is because, according to Ward, “as the rumor goes, the story only needed eight episodes and that’s why the number came out to eight episodes. All killer, no filler.”
  • They also reported that some filming did take place yesterday, with a pair of actors standing on the roof of a building. There isn’t much detail about what was going on or who the characters are, but you can read all about it and see more pictures of the set here.

We’ve been hoping forever that Dave Filoni would get a slice of the live-action Star Wars cake and this could be the first sign that he is. Who knows, from here he may even gravitate towards the movies… a fan can hope.

Eight episodes is a bit low, but hey, if it’s good, we’re going to take eight hours of Star Wars.

Let us know your thoughts, gang…
