Peter Capaldi has been asked to stay on for Doctor Who‘s series 11, but that’s it – he hasn’t made his decision yet.

News of showrunner Steven Moffat departing the show in 2018 and replaced by Broadchurch’s Chris Chibnall plunged Capaldi’s future as the Time Lord into darkness, especially considering the actor having previously hinted season ten potentially being his final.

Capaldi told Edi Stark on BBC Radio Scotland’s Janice Forsyth Show (via Squareyed), that he has been asked back for the show’s 11th series, but saying; “I haven’t made my mind up.”

“I’ve been asked to stay on, which is lovely – and I think Chris Chibnall’s fantastic and a wonderful choice,” he continued. “To be perfectly honest, it’s so far away in the future… you know, Doctor Who is a very difficult thing to say goodbye to – and I don’t want to make that decision right now.”

“They’ve asked me to stay on, so when I am forced to make that decision, I will make it.”

Capaldi is still on board for the Doctor Who Christmas 2016 special, followed by a full series in 2017.
