Portman not set for Star Wars return… but she DID film new unused material recently?!

A week or so ago I reported that Ahsoka season 2 was set for a massive prequels reunion, even bigger than the one from season one.

We had previously reported that Ewan McGregor would appear in season 2 as Obi-Wan Kenobi, reuniting with Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker and Ariana Greenblatt’s young Ahsoka Tano, the trio seen regularly together in the The Clone Wars series, however, another massive Star Wars name was also reported by Star Wars News Network to be returning… Natalie Portman as Queen Padme Amidala, future mother of Luke and Leia.

Natalie Portman set for Star Wars return in Ahsoka season 2?

However, SWNN have now updated that story, saying: “A source told SWNN that the rumor shared below is not accurate. We don’t have any details to add but as of today, Natalie Portman is not in negotiations to return to Ahsoka Season 2.”

However, while not returning for Ahsoka, it seems the actress may have already filmed some new Star Wars content that was never shown to fans!

Scooper Jeff Sneider has reported that new Amidala stuff was filmed for the Obi-Wan Kenobi series but never used, saying: “She previously did shoot some stuff for the ‘Obi-Wan [Kenobi]’ show while working on ‘[Thor]: Love and Thunder,’ but it didn’t make the final cut, so it’s too early to know…”

The too early to know is in response to whether or not we will ever see the footage or, indeed, Portman’s return to Star Wars.

In my opinion, we’re seeing a lot of Portman returning to Star Wars news and rumour, so I’m inclined to believe that there’s something in the wind and, admittedly, Ahsoka would be the place to do it as it’s already featured flashbacks and the World Between Worlds allows for characters from the franchise’s past to return.

We’ll see Padme again, guys… I’m pretty damned sure.

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife.
