Rian Johnson has discussed directing an episode of The Mandalorian with Dave Filoni

April 18th, 2021 by Marc Comments

Sariah Wilson revealed a while ago that, in an interview with Star Wars: The Last Jedi writer/director Rian Johnson, he had revealed that his planned Star Wars trilogy was still on the cards and now she’s revealing more information about Johnson’s plans/hopes for Star Wars.

It seems that Johnson has spoken to The Mandalorian’s Dave Filoni, the man behind Clone Wars, Rebels and Resistance, about hopefully directing an episode in an upcoming season.

Here’s what Wilson – who has blocked me on Twitter even though I’ve never interacted with her, go figure – had to report: “I asked Rian if he’d ever consider doing an episode of The Mandalorian. He said he was dying to but that for him it’s all about scheduling. He’s been writing KO2 [Knives Out 2] and now he’s going to go directly into filming it. So it would be a matter of finding time to break away and do it. He said he has spoken to Dave Filoni about it.”

While I detest what Johnson did with The Last Jedi and the crash course he set the latest trilogy on, I have enjoyed his other work and would be ok with him directing an episode… not so sure, I’d be keen on him having input into the story, though.

Anyway, that’s all the details we have for now… thoughts?

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
