Fans of the MCU, we have an interesting bit of news for you thanks to the guys on the Murphy’s Law podcast (below).
Now, fans of Clint Barton/Hawkeye in the comics will know that the character is deaf quite often in his various incarnations and now the rumour is that in the upcoming Disney+ series they will be delving into that idea on screen too.
Barton has had a tough time in the MCU, with his family being snapped out of existence by Thanos in Infinity War and then having to loose his best friend, Natasha, to get them back in Endgame. But it seems there’s more misery to come for Jeremy Renner’s character.
“What was heard was that they were initially going to pursue the idea of Clint going deaf,” they say.
“That was part of the plan for the [Hawkeye] series, and so we’ll see if that’s still in there.”
At the moment we know the series will focus on Kate Bishop, the next Hawkeye, Hailee Steinfeld looking set to take the role (here) and it does seem likely that – as expected – the series will be a passing of the torch (or bow) with Renner’s Barton stepping down, so now we’re wondering if maybe going deaf will prompt him to stand down, leaving Bishop in the role?
It’s as likely as anything at this moment and it is something in the comic canon, so it certainly seems likely.
Anyway, let me know what you think gang. I want to hear your thoughts on this.
