RUMOUR: Ryan Reynolds to star in animated Deadpool show?

April 15th, 2021 by Marc Comments

An interesting rumour regarding everyone’s favourite merc with a mouth is doing the rounds at the minute.

Word is that Disney’s new animation division, 20th Television Animation, which will be working on existing shows such as The Simpsons and Family Guy, will be developing a new series for Hulu based on… Deadpool.

And, on top of this, word is it’ll star the one and only Ryan Reynolds in the title role.

Now, obviously this is just a rumor at the minute, but let’s not forget that this wouldn’t be the first time Wade Wilson almost made it to the small, animated screen as Community and Star Wars star Donald Glover was developing a Deadpool series a few years back although it never happened, with many believing the Disney/Fox merger was the reason why Marvel pulled the plug (read all about that here), so this isn’t that out there… also, Hulu are currently getting ready to bring the animated MODOK series to their screens, so there is connective tissue here.

Whether or not this series will actually be the one Glover was developing is unknown at this stage… but we’d doubt it.

Anyway, that’s the skinny, as they say, so what do you all think? Would you watch a Ryan Reynolds starring Deadpool animated series? Or is that a silly question?

Let me know…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
