Now that the awesomeness of the Flash finale has settled, more and more news is being revealed about what to expect from season two.

Andrew Kreisberg, speaking to the Hollywood Reporter, has said that they aim to up the ante in season 2 and introduce a bunch more speedsters and villains.

He said: “We are going to introduce a few more speedsters next year and a bunch more villains. How they and those villains come about is part of the surprise of season 2.

“We’re really excited. [Executive producer] Greg [Berlanti] and myself and [executive producer] Geoff Johns and the writers, the cast, the crew, the directors – we are so proud of this season of television.”

This would tie into that huge easter egg in the finale where we saw the helmet of Jay Garrick – the Flash of a parallel earth in the comics – fly through the portal and land at the Reverse Flash’s feet, leading many to believe we will see him on the show next year.

The producer also spoke about the possibility of Rick Cosnett, who played Eddie Thawne, returning to the show after his character heroically sacrificed himself in the finale to wipe the Reverse Flash from existence,

“The great thing with our show… is just because you are dead doesn’t mean you’re not coming back.

“Especially in the world of The Flash, which involves time travel and real hardcore science fiction, there’s always a way for Eddie to return and we hope Rick will.”

One character that Kreisberg has confirmed will be returning for sure is Dr Harrison Wells played by Tom Kavanaugh and will remain a series regular,

“Tom Cavanagh will be back,” he said. “That is not in question. Tom Cavanagh will continue to be a regular.”

How is that possible you might ask? The Reverse Flash posing as Harrison Wells was killed after all.. Our best guess at FTN is that when Eddie killed himself thus disrupting his bloodline and erased Eobard Thawne from existence it meant that the Reverse Flash never travelled back and never killed Wells to begin with. Yes, our heads hurt too!

We at FTN have poured over one scene in particular of the finale featured below and came up with a few theories of our own on what the future of the show might entail.

The scene in question is when Barry as the Flash breaks Mach 2 in order to travel back in time to the night his mother was murdered. As a result of this however, he starts to see visions which is explained as Barry being able to see his past, present and future through the speed-force.

These visions include Caitlin Snow as DC bad guy Killer Frost (top of page). Viewers familiar with the comics have known that Caitlin is the alter-ego of Killer Frost since the show started but we’ve been waiting to see if this would be addressed. It appears that we won’t have to wait long. It’ll be interesting to see how much of a presence Caitlin has on The Flash after her transformation as Killer Frost is known primarily as a Firestorm baddie who will be featuring in the upcoming ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ series from CW. (Continues…)

In the second vision (above) we see appears to be a flip of very familiar scenes from series one. That is, Henry Allen, Barry’s dad visiting his son in jail. We can clearly see Barry wearing cuffs and an iron heights penitentiary suit talking to his Dad through plexiglass. Why is Barry in jail? There is a very famous Flash story from the books called ‘the Trial of the Flash’ which involved Barry as the Flash being put on trial for the murder of the Reverse-Flash. Barry, given no other choice, had snapped Thawne’s neck after the villain had killed his wife, Iris. Could this mean we are getting an adaptation of this in the series and Reverse Flash will be back or is it something else entirely? Oh and we also see a glimpse of the future where there’s a very awesome Flash Museum (below) (Continues…)

The third vision was a portion of the ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ trailer that was released a few weeks ago (here). Specifically we see Captain Cold, the Atom, White Canary and the Flash being confronted by a giant robotic fist smashing through a ceiling.

Lastly, Barry sees a vision of his past as he races towards the night his mum died to try and prevent it.

Watch the slowed down scene below and tell us your theories!
