“Things are getting strange, I’m starting to worry… think this could be a case for Mulder and Scully.”
It seems that the idea of the multiverse and/or share universe has well and truly hit the streaming services now too as, among others, Wednesday heads into season two at Netflix as they also develop an Uncle Fester series, with the hopes being to focus on several members of the Addams Family in their TV universe, Stranger Things too is heading for animated movies, spinoffs and stage shows and that’s not even taking into account the million Game of Thrones spinoffs in development, so it should come as no surprise that one of the biggest shows of all time, The X-Files, is getting a reboot/reimagining.
Of course, we’ve heard this before, that Black Panther’s Ryan Coogler is developing a new X-Files show but now it seems that it’s happening t Disney, who now own Fox, the original show’s home.
The original 1993 X-Files was no stranger to crossovers and spinoffs, having crossed over with hit show Millennium in 1999 and it had its own direct spinoff series, The Lone Gunmen, which ran for one season, heck, in comic form they crossed over with Ghostbusters, Transformers and more!

Last March X-Files series creator Chris Carter spoke about the new take on the popular series: “I just spoke to a young man, Ryan Coogler, who is going to remount The X-Files with a diverse cast. So he’s got his work cut out for him, because we covered so much territory.”
As of now, apart from it being diverse, we know nothing about the show – is it a sequel, a reboot, a re-imagining? Whatever it is, I’ll keep you posted as an when there’s any news.
