Samuel L Jackson set for Nick Fury TV series on Disney+

September 26th, 2020 by Marc Comments

Ooooooh… some exciting news from the world of Marvel and Disney+ on this lovely warm day as it seems there’s a Nick Fury series coming.

Yes, it seems that god among men Samuel L Jackson is getting his own series at the streaming service and, as much as I’m excited for Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, WandaVision and the rest, this one has me genuinely excited because at the end of every Marvel movie I always feel like Fury just didn’t get enough time.

Last time we saw Fury was with Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) in space on board the Skrull ship, watching over earth and, many people believed, setting up Agents of SWORD (Sentient World Observation and Response Department) which may well be an idea for this movie.

I have heard rumours that while Fury is in the series, he may not be the focus of it. This leads me to believe that it could be a SWORD series, which would make a lot of sense given the ABC series Agents of SHIELD has recently ended and Marvel may want to go in their own direction with the idea.

In the movies Fury was the director of SHIELD before it was overrun by HYDRA – he was also the man who formed the Avengers and kick-started the MCU effectively.

As for the series, there’s rumors that we could see Smulders back as Maria Hill and – although I doubt it – talk that we could see some of the Agents of SHIELD team back too (Jackson did appear in the show in the early seasons a couple of times).

It’s interesting that we’re also hearing rumours that the amazing Hayley Atwell could be set to return as Peggy Carter too.

Carter, in the MCU, worked with Howard Stark – Tony’s dad – and formed SHIELD as we came to know it. We also learned that she was the love of Captain America’s true love and the one he returned to at the end of Avengers: Endgame to live his life with.

Carter had her own shortlived series on ABC too but it was cancelled prematurely and word is that Marvel feel her story is still unfinished.

Mr Robot’s Kyle Bradstreet attached to write and executive produce and we know that Jackson has previously expressed interest in pursuing the further adventures of Fury and we here at FTN are completely behind the idea.

What about you guys? Are you excited for a Fury TV series? I want to hear ALL your thoughts, gang…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
