Are you like me? Did you love Spider-Noir? Well, I have bad news… it’s been cancelled.
Yup, despite great reviews from fans and critics alike, and solid viewing figures (at least for the first few episodes), Nicholas Cage’s Ben Reilly/Spider-Noir will not be returning for a second series, although he will be returning for next summer’s Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse
However, oddly, it seems that other Spider-Man-centered shows are still in development.

Spider-Noir was the second series ordered and first to make it to the screen under a multi-title deal between Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television based on IP from Sony Pictures’ Universe of Marvel Characters, although, ironically, the first series, Silk, was cancelled before it even got a chance to start. But don’t despair because it seems Amazon and Sony TV are close to announcing a new series soon.
According to Nielsen’s US Top 10, Spider-Noir opened in the No. 2 spot in the US top 10, with 851 million minutes viewed in its first week and 2.6 billion over the first six weeks, but sadly, it seems it didn’t have the staying power and the numbers quickly dropped off… I would argue the series suffered from being dropped all at once instead of a week-to-week release as per Amazon’s usual approach. The series was very costly to produce, which undoubtedly damaged its chances of a season 2.
The series reimagined some of Marvel Comics’ most popular heroes and villains as Prohibition Era gumshoes and gangsters squaring off in New York City in 1933.
Nicolas Cage’s The Spider battled mob boss Silvermane (Brendan Gleeson), Sandman (Jack Huston), Tombstone (Abraham Popoola), and Megawatt (Andrew Lewis Caldwell).
This is a real shame, as Spider-Noir was a solid superhero series and Cage was a lot of fun in the role; however, I really do believe a staggered release would have served the series better because, despite being really enjoyable, it wasn’t a show that I found easily bingeable.
Anyway, thoughts? I know you have them and I wanna hear ’em all.
