Plans already afoot for Spider-Noir season 2

I’m almost ashamed to say that, while it was one of my most anticipated new shows of this year, I haven’t had a chance to see any of Spider-Noir yet because my daughter made me promise not to watch until her exams are over because she wants to watch it with me, and there’s not a dad alive who would refuse that.

That said, I am still really excited for it and have heard nothing but good things, and I am not at all surprised to hear that Amazon is already looking at what might happen in season 2, given the show’s critical and audience success.

Starring Nicholas Cage as Ben Reilly/Spider-Noir/The Spider, the show takes place in an alternate 1930s New York and was a spinoff from Cage voicing the character in the Spider-Verse animated movies, although it seems this is a different Noir than the one we met there.

Speaking to THR, showrunner Oren Uziel, and producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, said they want to really expand this corner of the Spider-Verse and would like to see what Ben/The Spider would do during World War II becasue it would put the character in a horrifying world but would also be something that Spider-Man has never had to deal with, be it Peter Parker, Miles Morales or Ben Reilly.

With Sony revealing that a Spider-Punk, Spider-Woman, and an R-rated animated symbiote movie are in development already, and talks taking place about Spider-Noir season 2, it’s good to see that they have finally figured out what to do with Spider-Man and the wide universe he/they inhabit.

Spider-Noir reimagines some of Marvel Comics’ most popular heroes and villains as Prohibition Era gumshoes and gangsters squaring off in New York City in 1933.

Nicolas Cage’s The Spider will battle mob boss Silvermane (Brendan Gleeson), Sandman (Jack Huston), Tombstone (Abraham Popoola), and Megawatt (Andrew Lewis Caldwell).

Spider-Noir debuts domestically on MGM+ on May 25 and then globally on Prime Video on May 27 as a binge release.

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
