We heard the rumors a few weeks back that Fantastic Beasts and Sherlock Holmes star Jude Law may be set to lead a new Star Wars series on Disney+.
And now, thanks to Star Wars Celebration Anaheim, it’s been confirmed that the series will be set post Return of the Jedi in a universe recovering from Emperial rule. It is indeed the series will feature a cast of young kids (here) that is created and produced by Spider-man: No Way Home director Jon Watts and, while the story is secret, word is it will focus on a bunch of kids, possibly younglings, lost in the galaxy who will have to find their way home; we’re guessing Law will be playing their teacher/mentor who is helping get them to safety.
Law is a big star and, more importantly, a great actor, so having him leading a Star Wars series is music to our ears; “the show is being described as a galactic version of classic Amblin coming-of-age adventure films of the ’80s.”
Skeleton Crew, as it’s currently called, will be exec produced by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, so you can all rest easy… it’s in good hands.
More as and when we get it, guys.
UPDATE: Dave Filoni just said the new live-action series stars kids… but is “as much for kids as The Clone Wars”. If you’ve watched Clone Wars, you’ll know exactly what that means… hint: it’s not a kids’ show.
