With the coming of Peter Capldi in the Tardis this August, we’ve all be waiting to see just what sort of Doctor he’ll be and if the show will still feel the same, given the big revelations we got in The Day Of The Doctor last November.

Well, now series showrunner Stephen Moffat has been chatting at the Hay Festival of Literature and the Arts about how the new series will change because it was basically long overdue a shake up and, with the debut of Capaldi, it seemed like the time was right: “It needed to change. One of the hardest things ever to do, is to notice when your clever new idea is now your very old idea.

We haven’t made much of a change to Doctor Who since it came back in 2005. Its been the same show… I just feel it needs to be a bit more different now, it just needs to be surprising again. We’ve got the hang of this, we need to change it. The rhythm has to alter, which it has.”

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
