With the coming of Peter Capldi in the Tardis this August, we’ve all be waiting to see just what sort of Doctor he’ll be and if the show will still feel the same, given the big revelations we got in The Day Of The Doctor last November.
Well, now series showrunner Stephen Moffat has been chatting at the Hay Festival of Literature and the Arts about how the new series will change because it was basically long overdue a shake up and, with the debut of Capaldi, it seemed like the time was right: “It needed to change. One of the hardest things ever to do, is to notice when your clever new idea is now your very old idea.
We haven’t made much of a change to Doctor Who since it came back in 2005. Its been the same show… I just feel it needs to be a bit more different now, it just needs to be surprising again. We’ve got the hang of this, we need to change it. The rhythm has to alter, which it has.”
