It was only a matter of time, especially with filming of the pilot going on now, but the reveal of the outfit for the upcoming Supergirl TV series has arrived. Behold, Melissa Benoist as Kara Zor-El.
Clearly, the show is going for a mix of classic Supergirl attire, mixed with some themes of Man of Steel. You’ll notice the color schemes for this outfit and Superman’s outfit from MOS are nearly identical.
An interesting note is the knee-high boots, which are more representative of the New 52 comic version of the character. The skirt is probably going to be what most fans talk about, in regards to functionality vs. classic look, but I’ll leave that up to you.
Colleen Atwood, who designed the outfit, had this to say, “In designing Supergirl, I wanted to embrace the past, but more importantly, thrust her into the street-style action hero of today,”
