Swamp Thing casts its Blue Devil! This is not a drill!

December 14th, 2018 by Marc Comments

Holy crap! As a kid growing up in the 1990s in Ireland I have almost no access to DC (or any other) comics, but one character I did find some books of was Blue Devil and, to this day, he’s one of my favourite obscure characters.

And now we’re getting him on TV!

Yes, DC Universe’s upcoming Swamp Thing series has cast Sharknado star Ian Ziering as Daniel Cassidy/Blue Devil.

Ziering will be a recurring guest star as DC character Blue Devil, a stuntman turned hero who fights occult evil. The Warners series described the character as “Stuntman turned movie star, Daniel Cassidy became semi-famous after playing the demonic Blue Devil. But now, eight years later, Cassidy finds himself living out his days in frustration, pining for his former fame while on a collision course with destiny.

I was excited for this, now I simply can’t wait! Blue Devil!!

Swamp Thing is expected sometime next year and stars Derek Mears as Swamp Thing, Andy Bean as Alec Holland, Crystal Reed as Abby Arcane and Jennifer Beals as Sheriff Lucilia Cable.

When CDC researcher Abby Arcane returns to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana, in order to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus, she develops a surprising bond with scientist Alec Holland — only to have him tragically taken from her. But as powerful forces descend on Houma, intent on exploiting the swamp’s mysterious properties for their own purposes, Abby will discover that the swamp holds mystical secrets, both horrifying and wondrous — and the potential love of her life may not be dead after all.

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
