Fox is working with Sylvester Stallone to bring the Rambo action movie franchise to television.
Stallone is partnering with the network and Avi Lerner’s Millennium Films for a potential on-going drama called Rambo: New Blood, reports Squareeyed.
The spin-off would follow the exploits of Rambo’s son JR, a badass former Navy SEAL now on his own quest for justice.
It is not clear yet if Stallone will reprise his role, although the Rambo character will have a significant presence in the Fox series, reports Deadline.
News of a possible Rambo show comes on the heels of Stallone partnering with Fox earlier this year to develop a small-screen spin-off of his Expendables franchise.
He had been developing a potential television continuation for Rambo along with producer Avi Lerner for the last two years, prior to Fox locking in a deal.
Stallone starred in four Rambo films – and has been reportedly working on a fifth – as a disgruntled ex-Special Forces officer bent on righting the wrongs of corrupt governments and terrorists.
The 69-year-old actor is currently riding high off the success of his Rocky spinoff Creed, which made over $44 million in its opening weekend.
