Get ready for the new daily show

The CW are developing a Batwoman TV series…

In the middle of May we got the news that this year’s crossover event in The CW’s DC shows would take all the characters to… Gotham City!

And we also learned that, sadly, Batman won’t be featured but we will be meeting Batwoman.

It was all teased with this wonderful image:

Anyway…

We wondered at the time if this meant we may be seeing a new spin-off to join Arrow, Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, Constantine and Black Lightning.

And guess what? We are!

Yes, The CW along with Arrowverse creator Greg Berlanti are now working on a Batwoman TV series and, since she’s being introduced in the crossover, we’re prepared to bet she’s going to be part of that world moving forward.

Here’s the skinny:

Batwoman revolves around Kate Kane, who, armed with a passion for social justice and flair for speaking her mind, soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence. But don’t call her a hero yet: in a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.

The Vampire Diaries’ Caroline Dries is writing and exec producing the series and a casting notice for the role will be going out soon.

So it looks like, despite Berlanti also working over at DC with their new shows on their streaming service, The CW-verse is going to keep going and that’s just fine by us.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
