The CW green lights The Lost Boys, Riverdale spin-off and Nancy Drew series

Looks like The CW is continuing to bring us awesome content as three new series get the greenlight while a returning show gets the thumbs up too.

First up, Riverdale fans are getting their second spinoff – The Dark adventures of Sabrina was originally a CW show before jumping to Netflix and it does have nods to Riverdale, so it counts – in the form of Katy Keen which “follows the lives and loves of four iconic Archie Comics characters — including fashion legend-to-be Katy Keene — as they chase their twenty-something dreams in New York City. This musical dramedy chronicles the origins and struggles of four aspiring artists trying to make it on Broadway, on the runway and in the recording studio.”

Next up, it’s time to sleep all day and party all night at The Lost Boys make a comeback: “Welcome to sunny seaside Santa Carla, home to a beautiful boardwalk, all the cotton candy you can eat…and a secret underworld of vampires. After the sudden death of their father, two brothers move to Santa Carla with their mother, who hopes to start anew in the town where she grew up. But the brothers find themselves drawn deeper and deeper into the seductive world of Santa Carla’s eternally beautiful and youthful undead.”

The Lost Boys were originally a big hit in 1987 and told the story of a bunch of vampires terrifying a small town before a bunch of kids decided to stand up to them, so this could be ripe for the updating.

Jane The Virgin will be getting a second season called Jane The Novella and will be set in a Napa Valley Vineyard.

Finally,  the long-touted Nancy Drew series will be “set in the summer after her high school graduation,18-year-old Nancy Drew thought she’d be leaving her hometown for college, but when a family tragedy holds her back another year, she finds herself embroiled in a ghostly murder investigation — and along the way, uncovers secrets that run deeper than she ever imagined.”

Love it or loathe it, there’s no denying The CW is delivering in fun, genre TV… there’s three of these we can’t wait to get our teeth into. Ahem.

Thoughts?
