We reported a while ago (here) that an animated Deadpool series was coming from FX and being overseen by Donald Glover.
The series was set to be an adult oriented show and had gone to a ten episode order at FX. However, the old curse of “creative differences” has cropped up and as is the norm when it does, the plan is now… dead in the water.
Yes, the Deadpool animated series is now cancelled.
“Due to creative differences, FX, Donald Glover, Stephen Glover and Marvel Television have agreed to part ways on Marvel’s Deadpool animated series,” the network said in a statement.
“FX will no longer be involved with the project. FX and Marvel have an ongoing relationship through our partnership on Legion, which will continue.”
Glover is of course already busy with his upcoming gig as Lando Calrissian in the Solo movie, the indevelopent Lion King remake (he’s voicing Simba) and there’s even rumours that, should he [Glover] have the time, the long fabled Community movie may actually happen; we’re not holding our breath though.
Will the Deadpool series be picked up somewhere else? Possibly… but we have a feeling with Disney re-acquiring the rights to him and the X-Men characters, it’s not terribly likely.
