Get ready for the new daily show

The Defenders marks the end of Netflix MCU Phase One according to the cast

August 16th, 2017 by Marc Comments

We always suspected that The Defenders would be the end of the first step over at Netflix and now it seems we may have been right.

Originally the Netflix shows were planned as Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders and then on to a whole new set of heroes. But as the shows became more popular they got second season’s and the whole thing got less linear. But now with Punisher getting his own series, we figured it might well be the wind of change.

And, if the actors themselves are to be believed, then it just might be.

Finn Jones (Iron fist) said The Defenders “feels like the end of Phase One [and] the beginning of another phase.”

He elaborates: “Let’s just say there are certain events that happen at the end of The Defenders which are going to rock everyone’s world, so people aren’t going to be the same after the end of The Defenders.”

We’re wondering what the enormity could be that changes the characters? And speaking of the enormity of the whole MCU/Netflix universe, Jones added: “I don’t think we really understood what we’d got ourselves into.”

Daredevil himself, Charlie Cox, seems to agree that there’s a lot of responsibiliy to being a superhero: “Yeah… that’s just a lot to compute… That’s Phase One? How many f**king Phases are there?!

“I remember signing this contract and just thinking, ‘Yeah, let’s just deal with Daredevil, shall we? And see how it goes’.”

So that’s potentially the end of Phase One in the Netflix shows, so next up it all begins again with Jon Bernthal with Punisher.

Wonder what hero will be next? Let us know your thoughts…

Marvel’s The Defenders follows Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones). A quartet of singular heroes with one common goal – to save New York City. This is the story of four solitary figures, burdened with their own personal challenges, who realize they just might be stronger when teamed together.

Marvel’s The Defenders premieres on Netflix on Aug. 18, 2017.
