When it comes to long seasons, especially those with 20+ episodes, it’s not uncommon for certain episodes to have a “filler” kind of feel. At times it’s not bad, other times it’s incredibly noticeable. This week marks the premiere of Marvel’s Agent Carter, and if star Hayley Atwell is to be believed, this show will be about getting to the point with no wandering off the path.

“It’s not like, ‘Let’s find this ‘bad baby,’ now let’s find that ‘bad baby,’” Atwell told TVLine. “It goes to a much deeper, darker place.”

She goes on, “I was absolutely shocked and delighted when I started to read the later episodes and see the direction we’re going in,” she continues. “That’s one of the advantages of having only eight episodes, is that it’s not diluted over 22. This has a very strong story and is essentially four films.”

Atwell also mentions that one of Howard Stark’s “bad baby’s” is much more than an item. According to her, it’s more like monster. Suspense!

Agent Carter premieres with a two-part feature this Tuesday at 8/7c on ABC.
