TV REVIEWS: FTN Reviews Arrow Season 06 Episode 11: We Fall

January 26th, 2018 by Todd Black Comments

…get it? Cause last episode was called “Divided”…and now we have “We Fall”…as in “Divided We Fall”? See??? That’s a pun! …ok, I’ll move on.

It took a while, but Arrow did show off the true evil that is Cayden James, and he did it in a very barbaric way by literally controlling and electrocuting people from all over Star City, including recurring character Captain Pike. His sudden death really put a capper on things, and that was just the beginning of the episode.

The real crux though was that James did this attack because Ollie apparently killed his son…or did he? We found out that James’ son was kill while Oliver was away last season recruiting Dinah to join the team. And…he received this message from a computer in Corto Maltese. That certainly narrows down the suspects, doesn’t it? Could this be one last trick from Prometheus? Or maybe Merlyn? Hard to say, but I hope this gets revealed soon.

The other big twist was that Vigilante actually isn’t a part of The Cabal, he’s undercover. This was a very welcome twist, as many questioned how James could actually convince Vigilante to look beyond the killing he was about to do in order to just get Green Arrow off the streets. While it was easy to suspect he was lying, he killed one of James’ crew to save Renee in the final battle, and that seems to indicate he really is on their side.

Finally, when William was put in danger, Oliver was forced to reveal that he was back as Green Arrow. Oliver being a parent is a key part of his arc, and I thought it was cool to see some of the things he did to try and remedy the situation. Including giving William space, and then having a family meeting to get everything out in the open. The best part for me though was the monologue that Felicity had over the final battle.

Olicity gets a lot of flak, and a lot of it is deserved. But that speech really nailed the fact that Felicity truly does love Oliver, and she’s seen virtually every side of him, so she can confirm that it really is love.

Now, there were some oddities here. The tension between Team Arrow and the “Outsiders” (DC Comics fans will know the reference), is ok, but at times it’s still too overt. They saved a TON of people, and yet, the Outsiders wouldn’t compliment Ollie and Dig for helping out?

Also, what was the point of that attack? And if it was meant to be devastating, where was Black Siren? She would’ve loved hurting all those people.

Still though, “We Fall” did a solid job of keeping things moving. I just hope some more revelations come soon.
