TV REVIEWS: FTN Reviews Power Rangers Super Megaforce Episode 08: Power of Six

September 1st, 2014 by Todd Black Comments

After a LONG wait, Power Rangers Super Megaforce returned, and picked up right where they left off.

Orion was now a part of the team, but that didn’t mean all of the team was ok with Orion. What started off as a roll of the eyes soon turned into strong dislike, as Jake wasn’t feeling to happy that Orion was getting the attention of Gia.

I’ll be honest, this was a little sad, it’s a common arc that’s been done by many, including Power Rangers. Thankfully, they played it the right way to make it both believable and worthy of the ending it got.

Despite the fact that Jake was part of the storyline, it was really all about Orion once again. As he began to fully unlock his Sixth Ranger Keys, and truly become one with Legendary Mode. This was really cool in many ways. First, they merged the Gold and Silver Rangers from RPM into one mode (which was good because the Silver Ranger from RPM was a girl), and then to top that, they merged ALL the keys into one mega legendary mode.

Seeing all the sixth (and seventh) Rangers together was awesome, and at true preview of what’s to come. And Orion’s new form, with the chest plate containing all the Legendary Sixth (and seventh…) Ranger helmets was amazing. Although…if you pay close attention, you might see one missing…

Another interesting aspect was the monster of the week, you think you’ve seen it all, but then they bring out a monster who can drain you of your energy and you think, “yeah, that would work in taking over the world.” Sometimes you don’t need the biggest or scariest monster, you just need the one that works. And if it wasn’t for Orion’s new mode, this one probably would’ve.

In the end, “Power of Six” showed just how powerful Orion can become in Legendary Mode, and gave Jake his due in regards to be both being a Ranger…and being a friend with Gia. With all systems go, and the countdown to the Legend War truly beginning, I expect big things from Super Megaforce!
