We learned last week that Supergirl had cast Teen Wolf actor Tyler Hoechlin in the iconic role of Clark Kent/Superman – and yes, we too were hoping to see Smallville’s Tom Welling in the role.

However, we have a lot of faith in The CW and especially Greg Berlanti who has overseen Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow. And keeps us in DC heaven week in, week out.

Now that Supergirl has come over to the same network, it looks like Superman is firmly going to be a part of that universe now and Hoechlin, chatting to the Daily Mail, is very excited to get into the role… of Clark Kent (moreso that the man of steel, it seems): “I think the fun is going to be finding where Clark Kent is in this world. I’m just excited to find out Clark’s sense of humor.”

It’s hard to argue, we’ve not really had a TV Superman since Smallville, so there’s a lot on the guy’s shoulders. Not to mention the fact that the DC Cinematic Universe has Henry Caville in the role so it’s vital he puts his own stamp on the chracter.

However, the actor seems unphased by the pressure of the role:“I never try to compare and contrast performances because it’s such an iconic character already. Superman is Superman so I’m just going to try to carry on the tradition of that and play that part.”

We look foreward to seeing Superman in the Arrow-verse alongside his cousin, Kara AKA Supergirl.

Let us know if you have hopes and ideas of what you want to see in the show’s second season in the usual ways, guys.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
