We reported a few days ago that UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor was set for Game of Thrones but, in fairness, we only took it with a pitch of salt…

However, now it seems that he is indeed set for the show.

Huh?

Well, UFC president Dana White has seemingly confirmed that the fighter is set for Westeros: “I knew that a few months ago that they were interested in putting him in the show. And I’m glad he did it. It’ll be great.”

It’s well known that McGregor and Hafþór Björnsson, who played the Mountain since season 4, are good friends and we all know that much of Thrones is filmed here in Ireland where McGregor is from.

According to Watchers on the Wall, McGregor “will be playing a pirate belonging to Euron Greyjoy’s crew, on the ship Silence.”

They also confirm that it will be a cameo and not a big role and he will not have a speaking part as Greyjoy rips out the tongues of his sailors, isn’t that surprising.

So what say you all? Are you looking forward to seeing McGregor in the show? Sound off in all the usual ways, gang…
