When the name Alfred Pennyworth is spoken a couple words may come to your mind. Loyal, friend, butler, honorable. Yet to those who have been able to see the past of one Alfred Pennyworth, you’ll know he’s so much more.
The fall finale of Gotham is approaching, and with it comes the reveal of what Alfred Pennyworth truly is, a man you don’t want to mess with. Continues after the video:
Also though, an assumption was made when Gotham was revealed to be the prequel to the world of Batman. Mainly that any and all major characters would be kept alive because they exist in Batman’s life. But is that the case?
Showrunner Bruno Heller talked about the topic: “I wouldn’t say it’s iron clad. You’d need a damn good reason to do it and a damn good end game to justify it. We’re certainly just learning the ropes at this stage. Not to be modest about it, but we’re still learning how to do a show this big. I’m always deeply reluctant to kill off characters simply for the shock value of killing them off. I’m not averse to cheap tricks. But apart from anything else, this season literally every actor has come through and [performed really strong]. I would hate to lose any of them.”
So it’s not out of the picture, but it’s far from confirmed. Which is good, because the last thing Gotham need is a bunch of Batman fans proclaiming what the show is doing wrong. Oh wait…
