File this under we really want this to happen as much as we never, ever want to see this show…

Remember Star Wars Detours? Well, we put the trailer below in case you don’t – we apologise in advance – well, it looks like it may actually see the light of day, despite having the plug pulled when Disney moved into the galaxy far, far away.

The series was a comedy animated show from George Lucas, Matt Senreich and Robot Chicken’s Seth Green which undoubtedly came of the back of the success of the Robot Chicken and Family Guy Star Wars specials as Uncle George apparently loved them. This does not necessarily make it a good thing (see trailer below).

Jedi News has uncovered that, back on August 8th, 2014, five trademarks were placed by Lucasfilm on the Star Wars Detours name covering the following product lines:

-Education and entertainment services
-Toys, games and playthings; gymnastic and sporting articles (except clothing); hand-held units for playing electronic games for use with or without an external display screen or monitor; Christmas stockings; Christmas tree ornaments and decorations; snow globes
-Clothing, footwear and headwear
-Paper and paper articles; cardboard and cardboard articles; printed matter; publications; books; photographs; portraits; paintings; stationery; office and school supplies
-Apparatus for recording, transmission or reproduction of sound or images; audio books; audio recordings; audio and visual recordings; video game software; computer programs and software; consumer electronics and accessories therefore; eyeglasses and sunglasses and accessories therefore; binoculars; decorative magnets; graduated rulers; microphones

They also say that they have heard rumblings that the episodes will be released digitally along with the movies in May this year. And that it will be part of an official online Star Wars library.

There are 39 completed episodes of Detours and, despite being slightly horrified by them, we really do hope they get released as we want to see them; if nothing else some of the design work looks great.

Now, where’s my copy of The Holiday Special?

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
