WATCH: David Goyer talks about Constantine TV series

March 10th, 2014 by Marc Comments

David S Goyer, writer/executive producer of Constantine, has been talking about the upcoming pilot and has confirmed the cast is in place and filming kicks off this very week…

I Am Rogue has been chatting to Goyer (full interview below) about the series which, if done right, will be unlike anything seen on TV before: “We start shooting next week. We only have four series regulars but we’ve cast them all now. I’m proud to say that Constantine is actually being played by a British guy. Matt Ryan and he is going to have blond hair.”

However, the big question was wether or not Constantine will be the chainsmoker he needs to be: “That’s a tricky one on network TV. We’re negotiating right now. He will have his signature trench coat and skinny tie,” Goyer said.

Goyer confirmed it will be more in keeping with the Hellblazer version of the character and, should it go to full series, it will feature other DC characters: “Quite a few other characters from the comic books and possibly from the DC universe, should we move forward, will be showing up.”

Constantine will star Matt Ryan, Lucy Griffiths, Harold Perrineau and Charles Halford. It is written by David S. Goyer and Daniel Cerone. The pilot will be directed by Neil Marshall

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
