June 28th, 2018 by Marc Comments

After the tease last night (here) we were pacing the floor all day to see what the big reveal would be about DC’s upcoming streaming service, DC Universe and, while not as great as we hoped, this is going to be awesome!

The service will be developing original content like Titans, Young Justice, Harley Quinn, Swamp Thing and Doom Patrol, but we now know that it will also be a hub for pretty much everything DC.

Define everything? Well…

How about all four original Superman movies starring Christopher Reeve, the original Wonder Woman series, and, Yes!, Batman: The Animated Series.

But that’s not all, the service will also feature Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, Green Lantern: First Flight, and Wonder Woman, with undoubtedly more added as it kicks off. On top of that too, there’s going to be an app that will give access to some of DC’s biggest books including Action Comics No. 1, Detective Comics No. 27, Geoff Johns and Jim Lee’s Justice League, Scott Snyder’s Swamp Thing, and Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Conner’s Harley Quinn kicking things off.

There will also be access to exclusive merchandise and forums where DC fans can chat, debate, argue, call each other names and all the fun stuff fandoms seem to do these days.

Here’s the first awesome merchandise reveal:

You can sign up for the Beta trial here but if you live outside the US then you could be disappointed. Hopefully that will be rectified soon as we all want in on this awesomeness!

Here’s the trailer for the series (Continues after video):

for the not so shape-eyed among you, we’ve screen grabbed the info from the end of the trailer so you can have a read at your own leisure (continues after image):

The launch also gave us two awesome images of Brenton Thwaites as Robin/Dick Grayson and he truly looks badass!

The images show that the series will be dark-toned and, given he aesthetic, despite being developed by Greg Berlanti, Geoff Johns, and Akiva Goldsman, it’s unlikely that it will be connected to the Arrowverse. Which we find a bit disappointing to be honest.

Titans will also feature achel Roth/Raven, and Garfield Logan/Beast Boy. The series will also feature Jason Todd and Doom Patrol, who are getting their own spinoff series.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Titans follows young heroes from across the DC Universe as they come of age and find belonging in a gritty take on the classic Teen Titans franchise. Dick Grayson and Rachel Roth, a special young girl possessed by a strange darkness, get embroiled in a conspiracy that could bring Hell on Earth. Joining them along the way are the hot-headed Starfire and loveable Beast Boy. Together they become a surrogate family and team of heroes.

And here’s Robin/Dick Grayson:

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
