WATCH: Donald Glover seemingly confirms he’s involved in the Star Wars Lando series

April 5th, 2022 by Marc Comments

In December 2022 we learned that Lando Calrissian was getting his own Disney+ series and we were pretty excited even though we knew nothing about what it would be.

We assumed that it would star Community and Solo: A Star Wars Story star Donald Glover in the title role but at the end of Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker, we saw the great Billy Dee Williams return and seemingly hint at a new adventure with Jannah [Naomi Ackie] who may be his long-lost daughter [we think that’s the idea, it was poorly handled], so we begin to think that maybe that would be what the series will be.

However, now we may finally know which Lando we’re getting.

In a new interview with Jimmy Kimmel, Donald Glover is asked about the Lando series and, while he gives nothing away, he seems to confirm that he’s very busy right now and returning to the galaxy far, far away is part of that busy schedule.

Watch the interview below:

Personally, I would love to see a Young Indiana Jones-type adventure where we see Williams’ recalling an earlier adventure while on his own adventure as GLover, a Star Wars series simultaneously taking place in two time periods, after all, we saw Lando in Solo: A Star Wars Story keeping a record of all his adventures, so that would be an easily exploited plot point to have the multi-timeline adventure.

Although“Everything you’ve heard about me is true.” we know Williams is getting on in years, so I have a feeling if the Jannah story is ever resolved, it’s going to be a comic or novel. But we can hope.

Thoughts?

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
