Finally! We have a trailer for the BBC adaptation of HG Wells’ timeless classic The War of the Worlds.
The trailer finally gives us a look at the original alien invasion story which was originally supposed to arrive a year ago – I’m guessing the extensive visual effects took a biggest toll and cost than expected – and honestly, it looks like it was well worth the wait.
Finally we get a victorian telling of the tale which is usually adapted in a modern/current setting, but this one looks like a real adaptation of Wells’ book and I’ve been waiting a long time to see this done right, being a big fan of the book and an even bigger fan of Jeff Wayne’s musical version.
In the trailer we see the first meteors holding the Martians arrive in Edwardian England, as seen through the eyes of young couple George and Amy (Rafe Spall and Eleanor Tomlinson) and the scientist/expert Ogilvy (Robert Carlyle).
And, for the record, the war machines look terrifying and beautiful.
This is essential when it arrives this autumn/fall.
This is the original alien invasion story. Staring Eleanor Tomlinson, Rafe Spall and Robert Caryle, this tense and thrilling drama follows a young couple’s race for survival against escalating terror of an alien enemy beyond their comprehension.
