The first official trailer for Daredevil season 2 has dropped on to the internet.

Season two follows on from the knockout success of its first season, which saw Hell’s Kitchen’s blind lawyer Matt Murdock don the hellish costume of Daredevil to take down the tyrannical crime boss Wilson Fisk (just don’t call him Kingpin; just not yet at least).

But what does the new trailer give us?

We get an insight into the mind of Frank Castle, known to the criminal underworld as The Punisher. We’ve seen him a few times in recent years on the big screen, but this is the first time we’ll see Jon Bernthal from The Walking Dead in the role of the vigilante.

The trailer (made chilling thanks to the choir soundtrack that accompanies it) focuses on his actions, which is to take the war to the mob right on their front doorstep. We see a lot of bodies, a lot of blood and a lot of big guns.

This is 100% The Punisher’s trailer.

Making a return this season include Matt’s partner (and fellow avocado at law) Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) and their secretary Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) as well as Rosario Dawson’s nurse Claire Temple, who we last saw in Jessica Jones.

We may not see a return of Fisk, and things are remaining tight-lipped if he even makes an appearance this series, but we do get a shot of Elodie Yung as assassin Elektra, right at the end of the trailer. From the line that her and Matt share in his apartment, it’s safe to say that these two have more than a little history.

As you can see from the video title, this is only Part 1 of the trailer, with the tease of Elektra right at the end hopefully suggesting that Part 2 (due online on the 25th of February) will be all about her.

Daredevil debuts on March 18. Are you looking forward to it?
