WATCH: Netflix announce Alice In Borderland Season 3! UPDATED: Original stars returning

September 28th, 2023 by Marc Comments

It all started last night with a little ambiguous tease (here) that had many, myself included, wondering if Netflix could possibly be teasing a third season of the superb Japanese series Alice in Borderland.

And we all went to bed hopeful… if we were good boys and girls Santa just might leave us the exciting news that one of our favourite shows from he streamer (in general, actually) might be coming back and then today, it was confirmed:

This is great news!

What exactly season 3 will be is anyone’s guess at this point as the second season had a fairly good ending but it did leave a big question over what exactly the games in Borderland were, meaning that all our heroes could easily find themselves going back in; or we might see some of the players who didn’t make it out having their stories continued or, perhaps more likely, we may see a whole new group of players introduced, to fight their way through Borderland, trying to piece together what exactly is happening.

The ambiguous ending of the series was satisfactory, with the hint that all is not as it should be, that said, I liked the mystery that remained when it was all over and, to my knowledge (feel free to let me know if I’m wrong), it stayed fairly faithful to the finale of the Manga series it was based on.

Whatever it all means, I’m very excited for the return of this series, I just hope it’s not too far away.

UPDATE: ET reported that Kento Yamazaki and Tao Tsuchiya will return as Arisu and Usagi!: With Kento Yamazaki and Tao Tsuchiya reprising their roles as Arisu and Usagi in Season 3, Netflix says fans can look forward to witnessing the evolution of their characters in the ever-dangerous landscape of Borderland. Director Shinsuke Sato will also continue helming the series, ensuring that it maintains its trademark intensity and aesthetic.”

Thoughts? I know you have them! Voice-off in the usual ways on FTN’s FacebookTwitter and Instagram
