WATCH: New teaser for adaptation of iconic sci-fi novel Neuromancer

A new teaser for Apple TV’s adaptation of William Gibson’s iconic sci-fi novel Neuromancer.

Although often thought of as being unfilmable, I would have faith in Apple TV, which, with shows such as Slow Horses, Silo and Widow’s Bay, has proven that it can do complex TV.

The Neuromancer TV series is looking likely for release in 2027, and I can’t help feeling that the ‘the next chapter is loading’ tease could mean we’re set to get a full trailer very soon.

The series will star Callum Turner as Case, the hacker who finds himself taking on an AI called Wintermute, it will also star Briana Middleton as Molly Millions, Mark Strong as Armitage and Emma Laird  as Linda Lee.

On the new teaser, Inverse wrote: The new teaser trailer doesn’t reveal any of the characters, but it does recreate the opening lines of the novel. We see a human finger press a button on some kind of monitor, which gives us the name “Ashpool 1.”

This is a reference to the Tessier-Ashpool family, massive power players in the lore of Neuromancer. The text on the screen reads: “The sky above the port was the color of television tuned to a dead channel.”

This is the opening line of Neuromancer, one of the most famous opening lines of a science fiction novel ever. With one line, Gibson captured both a throwback noir, or hard-boiled style of writing, and fused that with a future-facing mood.

42 years ago, William Gibson introduced the world to Neuromancer. Now, the next chapter is loading.

What?! Nick Frost just teased Spaced series 3! How’s that for a slice of fried gold?

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
