For those who didn’t know, today marks the ninth anniversary of the death of Doctor Who and Sarah Jane Adventures star Elizabeth Sladen.
And, to mark the day, former Who showrunner Russell T Davies has written a farewell story for the character.
“Farewell, Sarah Jane,” Davies said. “The final Sarah Jane Adventure. Made with the blessing of Lis’ family; come and say goodbye.”
Sladen’s Sarah Jane Smith is arguably the most famous – and loved – of the Doctor’s companions in the show’s long history and, even though the final episode of her spin-off series, The Sarah Jane Adventures did give an emotional video-montage goodbye to the star/character, she was never given a proper send-off. Until now.
The series had to finish filming due to the actress’s death in 2011.
So, without further ado, check out the new episode below and bid farewell to one of TV’s favourite actresses and characters.
Goodbye, Sarah Jane Smith.
Today marks the anniversary of the passing of Elisabeth Sladen, who played the Doctor’s friend Sarah Jane Smith. In a new video, scripted by Russell T Davies and narrated by Jacob Dudman, Sarah Jane Smith’s closest friends come together to say “Farewell, Sarah Jane”.
