Get ready for the new daily show

WATCH: Star Trek: Strange New Worlds opening credits are pure joy…

While I, personally, think the new Star Trek shows are hot garbage, I really have high hopes for the upcoming Star Trek: Strange New Worlds which will feature the USS Enterprise’s adventures before we met it and its crew on the original Star Trek series.

In the show The Inhumans star Anson Mount stars are the iconic ship’s original Captain Pike.

Taking to social media, Mount has shared the opening credits of the show which are, frankly, gorgeous and have enough of the original series’ theme to hold our attention.

Mount wrote: Perhaps the greatest honor of my career to date was getting to utter these words: “Space, the final frontier…” I could not be more proud to be a part of the @StarTrekOnPPlus team and I could not be more grateful to the Trek community. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU.”

Mount seems to be the real deal when it comes to being a fan and wanting the series done right… let’s hope he, and the audience, get what they want. Check out the opening below:

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, stars Anson Mount, Rebecca Romijn and Ethan Peck as Captain Pike, Number One and Mister Spock with Paul Wesley appearing as Captain Kirk.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is set to lift off on May 5th

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
