WATCH: Teaser for Jodie Whitaker’s final episode of Doctor Who teases the return of fan favourite villains and companions

April 17th, 2022 by Marc Comments

After a disappointingly lackluster Easter special earlier tonight with Doctor Who: Legend of the Sea Devils, we got a very exciting teaser at the end for the next special due later this year.

This new special needs to be a big one as it marks the BBC’s centenary, it will be leading into the return of Russell T Davies and the show’s 60th anniversary and it will be the last one to star Jodie Whitaker’s Doctor and, given how this trailer looks, we could be in for something big.

Why? Well, the episode sets up three big villains’ returns with Sacha Dawan returning as the Master alone with the Daleks and the Cybermen but that’s not all, as we spotted two classic era companions and fan favourites in there too with Sophie Aldred’s Ace returning – Aldred traveled with Sylvester McCoy’s Doctor back in the 80s – and Janet Fielding’s Tegan who travelled with both Tom Baker’s and Peter Davidson’s Doctors in the 1970s and 1980s, both pictured left.

Now, we have heard rumors that this episode will lead into a bigger adventure, similar to how the 50th anniversary episode, The Day of the Doctor was part of a wider arc of stories include The Night of the Doctor which acted as a prequel. We’ve also heard that the adventure will see numerous previous Doctors return including Peter Capaldi, David Tennant and Matt Smith and maybe a few more.

Anyway, we have to hope that the future of the show is looking bright once more with showrunner Chris Chibnall saying he will never return to Doctor Who and he expects his time on the show will be mostly ignored in the future (here) but, as we’ve said before, Whitaker deserved so much better.

Check out the trailer below and let us know your thoughts, gang:
