Get ready to return to Derry for another round with Pennywise…

Yes, IT: Welcome to Derry has been greenlit for a second season and this time it’s making the time jump from 1962 to 1935 as another generation of children are set to be terrified – and worse – by Stephen King’s most terrifying villain.

There are no official details on the series or what the story will be, but going back further in Pennywise’s – and Derry’s – timeline opens up a world of terrifying possibilities.

Acting as a prequel to the IT movies, this also manages to be a prequel to King’s novel, so it’s double trouble.

In the story, Pennywise the clown, actually a demonic emotion vampire from the darkness called Todash, returns every 27 years to terrify, maim and finally kill the children of the small Maine town, so this new tale takes us back to 1935, 27 years before season one and will see Bill Skarsgård return as the hateful clown.

Talking recently about King’s massive novel, Andy Muschietti said: “IT is an epic story that contains multitudes, far beyond what we could explore in our IT movies. We can’t wait to share the depths of Steve’s novel, in all its heart, humor, humanity and horror.”

See you back in Derry soon and don’t forget, we all float down here…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
