Well, 2020 continues to deliver the s#¢t sandwiches as one of our favourite animated shows just had the plug pulled on it.
Yes, Disney XD for some inexplicable reason, have cancelled Duck Tales after its currently-airing third season wraps. Probably so they can invest more time and resources in making more soulless live-action reboots of beloved animated movies.
Anyway, I digress.
“While physical production is wrapping, ‘DuckTales’ continues to be available on Disney Channels and Disney+ around the world and fans will get an epic season finale in 2021,” a Disney XD spokesperson said in a statement.
The new series hit screens in 2017 and, like the original series, followed Scrooge McDuck and his nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie as they crossed the world looking for artifacts and adventure… and finding it every week.
The show was a pure delight with great gags, fun characters and razor sharp writing… so why it’s being canned, I have no idea.
Adding to the ‘wut?’ of it all, it seems that Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, and Alex McAtee are aiming on producing a Darkwing Duck reboot through their Point Grey Pictures. Darkwing Duck was, of course, recently seen in Duck Tales.
I have no words, guys… but life is indeed, it seems, like a hurricane.
What say you all? Any Duck Tales fans in the audience? Let me know…
