Well, E3 2016 is all about to kick off and, not very surprisingly, Star Wars is front and centre.

EA hosted the first ever EA Play event in downtown LA.

At the event, the press got their first look at the next generation of Star Wars games and yes, we’re very excited.

The new game is being developed by Uncharted’s Amy Hennig as creative director and writer/actor Todd Stashwick working on the story with her, Jade Raymond, Scott Warner, and more have been hired onto the Visceral Games and Motive Studios project.

And if you scroll to the bottom of the page you’ll get your first look and it really looks like you’re stepping into the Star Wars universe.

The video is basically a round-up of the future games – including new Battlefront – and they all look like a lot of fun and certainly seems to be coming from real fans.

EA “confirmed that the characters central to the game’s story will be all-new. In the footage, a character that at least from behind bears more than a passing resemblance to Stashwick with a long jacket on walked out into an outpost of some sort, where Imperial banners hung, a Star Destroyer was in the far background, and TIE fighters flew by.”

We also get a hint at the new adventure game from Respawn Entertainment, “a new era for Star Wars.” It’s the one where the guys are using motion capture to create a Jedi/Sith fight… no actual game footage was revealed though.

Also, BioWare’s James Ohlen, looking back at their previous pre-Disney Star Wars games, said “outside of The Old Republic we have so many more stories to tell“. We’ll let you decide what that means exactly, but one thing is for sure, Star Wars and gaming are about to meet in a big way again…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
