Everything You Need to Know About the Promised 2022 Call of Duty Game

April 23rd, 2022 by Clark Kent Comments

The new Call of Duty game is to be a sequel to Modern Warfare which was hugely successful when launched back in 2019. Now we are being promised that Activision will be releasing Modern Warfare 2 later this year and here’s a brief look at what we think we know to date.

There still has been no confirmation about which platforms it will be available on or the exact release date, but everyone is fairly sure it will be 2022. While COD titles have historically dropped in November there is a rumour that this will be available in October. Truth be told, no one has actually confirmed it yet, but the assumption is that it will be in the autumn.

Earlier this year Microsoft announced that it would be buying Activision Blizzard the series $68.7 billion. The deal is as yet done and dusted, and some players were concerned about the future of the game on the PlayStation. However, Microsoft has confirmed that it will continue to make popular Activision Blizzard titles available on PlayStation under the terms of an existing agreement.  It has also said that it will continue to make them available beyond the current agreement so that Sony fans ‘can continue to enjoy the games they love’.

That’s just as well as Call of Duty has been one of the most successful first-person shooter titles ever developed. Way back in 2003, it drew gamers into epic World War 2 battles and has since taken players through the Cold War and into futuristic worlds and even outer space. The game is a global success and is no longer restricted to being played on a console. There have been multiple mobile versions of Call of Duty including a title where you battle with zombies. There is also a slots version called COD 4 and this popular title can be found on many existing and new slot sites in the UK. A cinematic release was announced in 2018 but this project appears to have been moth-balled and is no longer a priority for Activision. In addition, there are several comic book titles and there is a wide range of merchandise to buy.

There are also Call of Duty Championships, and it has been a popular e-sports title since 2006 where big money and trophies can be won. There is also a CoD city league with teams from Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Florida, London, Minnesota, New York, Paris, Seattle, and Toronto and two teams based in Los Angeles.

One thing that is known for sure is that the new game is that it will be built on a brand-new engine which the developers say they have been working on for years.  This new engine will improve the playing experience across all platforms. They have said it will be used as the foundation on which to lay a new Warzone experience which will be known as Warzone 2.  Although Warzone 2 will just become Warzone and the original one will be known as Warzone Legacy.

The new game will also feature new maps. It is expected that these will include a Favela, Terminal and Highrise.  While little is being said officially there is a screengrab of the Favela on Activision’s website, so that seems like more than a rumour. In the Favela players will find themselves in combat at close quarters in small, enclosed areas. The Terminal map will be the perfect place for snipers in a long-range combat situation. It is also expected that the AI will see significant improvements from previous games and the characters will act realistically when getting shot.

These rumours are, however, only rumours and very little has been officially confirmed about the new game and the gameplay other than that it will continue to be gritty, gripping and immensely popular.
