FIRST LOOK: Trailer drops for TRON: Identity game

September 19th, 2022 by Marc Comments

Some cool news for fans of the TRON franchise as a new game is set for release next year.

With Jared Leto revealing that they’re well underway with the third TRON movie earlier this year, saying: “I’m a super fan of Tron, and we are working hard on Tron with our incredible partners at Disney. Just an amazing group of creative people. We’re getting closer. We’re getting closer and closer, and who knows? Something may be [coming] sooner than later,” it seems we now have something else to look forward to other than just another theatrical release.

Tron Identity is a new game from Bithell Games, the chap behind Thomas Was Alone, John Wick Hex and Volume and their boss Mike Bithell along with Disney producer Heidy Vargas have revealed some details about the adventure and who will take part.

The game will be a detective adventure and will take place long, long after the other TRON stories: “It takes place in a secondary Grid created by Flynn for the ISOs to inhabit after promising he’d return, though as we know, he never did. We get a look at what society and culture has evolved since then, through the eyes of a detective named Query assigned to solve a robbery and the mystery that surrounds it.”

The main character in the story seems to be Proxy, a program who loves outside the grid and who tries to capitalise on the robbery which she was a witness to.

Bithell describes the adventure as a ‘visual novel’ with puzzles and conversational aspects both playing a part in solving the mystery… whatever it may be.

I’m a big, big TRON fan and will be looking forward to playing this, of being in the grid solving mysteries. It’s going to be interesting to see if it will play into the lead in for the third movie.

And, while we’re here, Disney, can we please have a second season of TRON: Uprising? Now, that was a story I want to see more of!

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
