Star Wars: Battlefront will let you play as a female Stormtrooper?

With female Stormtroopers being a mainstay of cosplayers for a long time, we pretty much figured we’d never see one in the  canonical Star Wars universe… but we just came one step closer to it.

Or, it is now canon, depending on how you view the Battlefront game.

DICE’s general manager, Patrick Bach,  has said that Star Wars: Battlefront will have a playable female Stormtooper: “Male or female characters are separate from customization. You can’t do it in crazy ways. You can’t have a pink Darth Vader,” he said.

“You want the Stormtroopers to look like Stormtroopers, our customization is tilted toward what makes sense,” he added.

It seems the troopers will all wear the same outfits and you will have the option from the beginning of the game… could we already have seen female troopers and not even known it?

Battelfront will be released on November 17th.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….

“Tilted towards what makes sense.” Sounds like outdated thinking tilted towards discrimination. They should’ve avoided the question altogether instead of giving such an awkward response like that.
