Warner Bros. confirms Batman: Arkham City sequel?

February 12th, 2013 by Irwin Fletcher 2 Comments

Time Warner management has confirmed that a new game in the Batman: Arkham series will be released this year, during an investor call.

John K Martin is the company’s CFO, and you can read the transcript of his statements on Yahoo! Finance. “And we also have a strong games release this year, which will include the next release in the Batman Arkham franchise,” he says. “So all in all, we expect Warners to post another very strong year in 2013. And with a little luck, the year should be as good or maybe even a little bit better than 2012.” It seems he might be taking that for granted. One bad game, made to turn a buck, can ruin all the trust they’ve earned from gamers.

An inevitable third entry in the Arkham series has been the subject of speculation for a while, even teased by the Joker himself during Spike TV’s VGAs, as Arkham World. But we’ve had no solid info on what it is or even who will develop it. Rocksteady had hinted that its next game will not be a Batman game and Variety claimed that Warner’s next Batman game will be a Silver Age prequel featuring members of the Justice League of America. But it also stated that the game would not be out before 2014.

So we may get a game with Robin wearing that horrible speedo, and it might not be made by Rocksteady? Why mess with a perfect formula? Would you play a Batman game not done by Rocksteady? I have a feeling the Joker is behind this.
