Rainfall films have created a short film based on the Metroid games called ‘METROID: THE SKY CALLS // a Rainfall Films Intergalactic Odyssey’ and it’s all kinds of epic!

The female protagonist, Samus Aran, portrayed here by Jessica Chobot has never looked better. The dark and gritty tone of director Sam Balcomb’s take on Metroid is a far cry from the brightly coloured worlds featured in the games but I love it!

The motion capture and stunts are performed by America Young, who previously worked on Halo 5: Guardians!

Commenting on the film, Jessica Chobot had this to say: “Thank you to everyone for watching and BIG thanks to Rainfall for asking me to be involved. Total blast working on this and love the way it turned out!”

This maybe the closest we ever get to a full, live action Metroid movie but who knows what might happen if the film generates interest!

Peter discovered the world of Star Trek at an early age. Since then he has taken his passion for all things sci-fi to the worlds of comics and video games. Captaining a star ship, riding a silver surf board through the stars and being a badass space commando is all in a day's work for this guy. You can find him thumbing through the racks at the local comic book store or blowing up aliens ‘til his thumbs bleed on Xbox. Peter lives with his tolerating wife Rachel and his dog/co-pilot Lucy.
