Yup, Silent Hills is now officially cancelled

We all suspected it was coming (here), but hoped it wasn’t.

News has filtered through from Konami that the highly anticipated Hideo Kojima/Guillermo del Toro co-production Silent Hills, has officially been canned. The continuation of one of survival horror’s most loved (if it’s the right word) franchises was one of the most highly anticipated games of recent years. Unfortunately, it hasn’t worked out that way.

Konami has released a press release, stating: “Konami is committed to new Silent Hill titles, however the embryonic ‘Silent Hills’ project developed with Guillermo del Toro and featuring the likeness of Norman Reedus will not be continued… In terms of Kojima and Del Toro being involved, discussions on future Silent Hill projects are currently underway, and please stay tuned for further announcements.”

So, there we are. They might be future games, but not for the foreseeable. I still miss the alien ending from the original PS1 game anyway.
